Tiva looked down the street.
To her right was an open street, the life of a fugitive, and likely capture and death. To her left was a swarm of police cars. At the very least some time in a cell will be time safe from the invaders.
She turned slowly, placing her hands behind her head, and began slowly walking toward the swarm of police cars.
“Or, call my lawyer.”
“Sure thing, Ti.”
“Ummm… Officer?”
A uniformed officer, eyes intent on the front entrance, started. “Ma’am. We’re in the middle of a very important operation.”
“I know. The auto-detainer seems to have charged me with something, and I thought I should turn myself in.”
The officer’s green eyes held briefly on the front door, his body reluctantly turning before his attention.
“Alright ma’am, put your hands behind your back and lean up against the car.”
The handcuffs bit bitterly into Tiva’s wrists as the officer pushed her head down to shove her into the back seat.
At that moment her eyes met Limen’s violet gaze as three officers drug him out the front door.
“It’s up to you now,” he urged as his face was driven into the sidewalk.

Shifting in her seat in the interrogation room, Tiva nervously played with the few possessions she’d brought with her.
Tiva lept out of her skin as the door creaked open.
Gingerly stepping toward the table, well-fitted suit perfectly offset by a surprisingly poorly fitted toupe, Tiva’s lawyer reached his hand out.
“Tia Sotere?”
“I’m Lex Tueri. I’m the best defense lawyer in the city and I’m here to get you out of this mess. So take it from the top. How’d you get into this spot of trouble?”
Tiva took a deep breath, began to speak, but instead burst into tears.
